Lithopolis Honeyfest is a member of OFEA (Ohio Festivals and Events Association) so we can enthusiastically seek ways to ensure we are continuously recognized by the Secretary of State as a compliant festival with public safety in mind.
Pet-friendly, kid-friendly, and completely ADA-accessible, Lithopolis Honeyfest is like a beehive: lots of amazing things happening in a structured environment where our main focus is making your experience SWEET!
Because they are so small, bees are often overlooked, even though the impact of bees on our planet is astronomical! According to Medical News Today, Around 75% of crops produce better yields if animals help them pollinate. Of all animals, bees are the most dominant pollinators of wild and crop plants. They visit over 90% of the world’s top 107 crops.Scientists say that without bees, there will be no more nuts, coffee, cocoa, tomatoes, apples, or almonds, to name a few crops. This could lead to nutritional deficiencies in the human diet, as these products are essential sources of vital nutrients.
Additionally, the medicinal properties of bee venom and other bee products may never be accessible without bees to provide them.
Like any successful hive, we are always looking for volunteers to make every year not only a success, but better than the year before. It takes more than 100 volunteers to make Honeyfest happen. Some volunteer opportunities require 2 hours of time on a random Tuesday during the summer, while others ask for a commitment after the entire event is over. Some folks want to work on a committee while others want to work on a solo project. We need ALL levels of volunteering!
